Since 1989, multinational mining corporations have been arriving in Turkey to extract gold through cyanide leaching. Eurogold is among them, operating mines near Bergama. As the environmental impact becomes clear, residents of Bergama and the surrounding villages mobilize in determined opposition to the project.
